The decision is made and the money is, or nearly is. Now the enterprise has to be designed to carry it: what the business must be able to do, what data it runs on, which applications stay, go or get replaced, and what platform holds it all. If this work is skipped, the implementer does it, and the design serves the implementation rather than the business.
What we do here
We design from the business outward. Capabilities first, then processes, then the data those processes depend on, then the applications and the platform that carry them. Every design decision is written down with its reason, so it can still be defended a year from now when a vendor asks to deviate from it.
